It’s officially the most wonderful time of year! Our family loves hosting gatherings for family and friends, but it sure can get stressful with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Stress less with these simple tips and have more time to relax, mix and mingle with your guests. From setup to cleanup, I’m here to help you crush your next party!
1. Prepare ahead of time
Start as early as possible by decorating and grocery shopping a few days before and baking the night prior to party time. The last thing you want to do is leave your guests to entertain themselves while you finish cooking or end up overwhelmed when unexpected surprises pop up.
2. Create a warm beverage bar
Stock the station with all of the essentials for the perfect treat for kids and adults alike! Bases: Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate Creamers: Soy, half & half, and milk Sweeteners: Sugar, honey, maple syrup, whipped cream Toppings: Cinnamon, chocolate chips, sprinkles, mini marshmallows, gingerbread men, chocolate covered pretzels Stirrers: Candy canes, Pirouline cookies
3. Make simple dishes
A grab-and-go, finger-food-only menu is the way to go! This requires no utensils, meaning less dishes and cleanup for you. Pick a few savory appetizers and a couple sweet treats and you’re good as gold.
4. Set the mood lighting
Turn off your bright, florescent overheads and light some fragrant candles to give off a warm glow. String lights around the staircase or along the fireplace mantel for a festive touch.
5. Curate a festive playlist
Infuse the the party with holiday cheer by combining a mix of Christmas classics and modern hits. A few of my favorite picks? Christmas Lights by Coldplay, Baby it’s Cold Outside, Someday at Christmas by Stevie Wonder, Winter Wonderland by Andra Day, Please Come Home for Christmas by Eagles, Happy Xmas by John Lennon, Jingle Bell Rock, Last Christmas by Wham! and Michael Buble’s entire Christmas album.
6. Grace your guests with parting “gifts”
Leave out a set of Dixie® To Go cups for guests have to leave early or would like to take a warm cup with them for the car ride home.Dixie® To Go‘s leak-resistant lid and insulated layer gives your guests the best on-the-go experience. No effort, no clean up, no worries.
There is enough stress in our daily lives. I hope these tips help you crush it as a host without a lot of extra effort.
