A visit to Melbourne isn’t quite complete without a trip to the pristine beaches, serene wetlands and diverse wildlife of Phillip Island. A place of natural beauty, and just two hours outside of the city, it makes for the perfect weekend escape from the buzzing urban life.As much as I love the street art and man made architecture of Melbourne, I am a strong believer of thinking outside of the box when it comes to travel, so this spectacular island was a welcome change of pace. Let’s just call it Melbourne’s hidden secret.Check out those baby blues. Sigh, gush, gasp. And this would be a massive stingray. Stay out of the water! I spy a wallaby! It was overwhelmingly overcast, but beautiful nonetheless. Grey skies and all.Forewarning: Bring a blanket or sweater, it gets a bit chilly by the sea! From this magnificent headland, the views stretch forever. The boardwalk of The Nobbies gives spectacular views of the rugged coast line.Beyond the charming views, wildlife is also abundant on Phillip Island. Tomorrow I will share my encounters with not only koalas and wallabies, but little penguins, seals and more!
