For many, it’s the same feeling year after year. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, us single gals may be left feeling disgruntled and insecure. The pressures of society have led us to believe that we need a man to constantly hold our hand through life (Not true!) We, as women, tend to place an unnecessary emphasis on feeling valued and worthy based on the emotions of a significant other.
1. You are allowed to have cereal for dinner and pizza for breakfast
Some nights, I just want pop-tarts and milk for dinner. Some mornings, I crave cold, left-over pizza. This is one of the biggest reasons to love single life. I can eat what I want, when I want, and not answer any judgmental questions. I am also a terrible chef, so any man that fell for me would have to suffer the consequences.
2. You don’t have a “side” of the bed
4. Flirting is fun!
I love the thrill of the chase, making eye contact and fluttering my long lashes at a handsome stranger on the train, in line at the shop, wherever! It’s fun to see how many smiles and appreciative stares I can get on an afternoon when I’m feeling on top of my game. It’s nice not having to feel guilty for something completely human.
5. Far less social media drama
I can’t even begin to tell you how much Facebook (and real-life) drama there is when you’re official. Your ex’s. His ex’s. Your mutual friends. All of your own little lover’s quarrels.
6. More time with friends
We all need our quality girl time. You get to enjoy it without feeling guilty of leaving your poor man at home.
7. It’s okay to skip a day of shaving
8. You’re able to put your career first.
You should get a solid footing in your career before fully committing to one person for the rest of forever. This way you can see your inner-most hopes and ambitions fulfilled, with the ability to live out your dreams, unencumbered.
