Where did all the good people go?
I think it’s an injustice when a person is suffering and we have the ability to help but don’t.
It’s tempting to say, “that’s someone else’s responsibility, not mine.”
Someone smarter or richer or more powerful. Other people, not me.
What sparked this sudden revalation, you ask?
As an intern in DC this summer, each and every day on my way to work, I lie witness to several homeless
men digging thru trash for breakfast, only to arrive at my office to a line out the door at Starbucks. I
just got to thinking, you could buy a meal for the price you pay for a Frappucino. I wish more people
would sacrifice their over-priced morning pleasure, just one day a week, to help feed someone in need.
As I stated a few posts back, I don’t believe in karma, since its
impossible to justify why bad things happen to good people and why bad people
seem to be the ones who get rich, get laid and get even (point in case: my stepmother).
What goes around doesn’t always come around. Only you are responsible for your destiny.
I’ve decided I want to be more than just an idle member of society, when I have been afforded such
privelage to help others, and encourage you to aspire to do the same.
“Be the change that you want to see in the world”
I was extremely inspired by Alexa Winston’s mission trip to Kenya, and would love
to travel there and help these precious little kids after college!
Check out her photography, it’s amazing!
